Adopted!

Lacy was adopted on Sunday. Her new family has a human "mom", 2 other dogs "siblings" and some kitty "siblings."

She gets to live a pretty country area away from the hussle and bustle of city life. I wish my sweet girl a lifetime of happiness.

Lacy LOVES to Run & Play

Lacy LOVES to run. Yes, I know most Greyhounds like to kick up their heels every so often and run. But this little girl just loves to run period. She will even go in my backyard by herself and just run for the sheer joy of it. I can see her as a lure coursing dog once she settles into her forever home.

She's decided she really enjoys toys of all shapes and sizes. Those that make noise and those that do not. The problem is she thinks everything is a toy so even though I tell her one remote is not, she finds another to see. She chewed up the remote to my gas logs yesterday. I was sure she had an actual toy, until I checked and found it was the remote. So she's a girl who until she learns item by item, what's a toy and what is not, will need to be watched carefully :)

She's so sweet and is such a lovebug. Last evening while she was laying down (AWAKE) in her crate with the door open before bed, I sat and right next to her petting and talking to her. She kept inching closer to me and rolled over on her back for a tummy rub. Lacy is definitely a girl who likes affection. Her forever family will have to temper that though because their inclination (as has been mine) will be to shower lots of love and affection on her right off the bat which can lead to separation anxiety. It's hard to resist her charms :)

Lacy is going to be the apple of someone's eye. How can you not adore her?

Lovely Lacy

I picked up CG Heart Tune last Thursday and brought her into foster at my house. She's such a sweet, gentle girl, just  a tad bit on the shy side. She's pretty dainty so I have started calling her Lacy. It just seems to suit her.

She has done wonderful my cat. She's been good with my 3 greyhounds and smallish lab mix. She has done a little growling when they walk by her sometimes if she's laying down, but that's it. I think she's still trying to get used to dogs in her space when she's lying down which is not something a dog from the track would be used to right off the bat. I have told her don;t do that and she's getting better about it.

She will very gently take treats from my hand which is pretty unusual for a slightly shy dog right from the track/kennel. And she doesn't have a problem when my dogs are all right there with her getting their treats and while she gets hers.

Lacy is very loving and affectionate. She will come up and gently lick my fingers.

She's just learning about toys--including what is a toy and what is not. When she picks up something that is not a toy, a verbal correction is all it takes.

Lacy is very eager to please. If she's not sure what you want, sometimes, she just lays down in front of you like she is telling you she's just not sure what you want. Such a polite little girl.

She's done well with the steps. At my house, a dog has no choice but to learn the steps quickly. She's very confident going up steps, but not all the way there yet coming down them so sometimes she wants me to be there to reassure her.

Slick floors make her a little apprehensive, but not bad at all. She just tends to be more cautious on slick floors, but she does not refuse to walk on them like other fosters that I have had to really work with.

She has tried some counter and trash surfing, but again, just a verbal correction stops her.

Lacy LOVES to run around my fenced backyard. She looks so happy being able to explore, sniff and run wherever she wants to. She also loves laying in and rolling around in the grass.

She's been very good in the house with her potty training. She's only had one little accident in her crate while I was gone few several hours. When she goes outside, she is so happy to go out and play, you have to watch her to make sure she does her business before coming back in, epsecially if you are crating to leave.

Like almost all greyhounds, once she discovered dog beds, she LOVES napping in them.

Lacy sleeps in a crate in my bedroom at night and has not made a peep unless she needs to go outside. She's a great little girl who just needs a little more time to learn about being a house pet. She's smart though so in no time, she'll act like a dog who has been a pet her entire life.
